Prof. Dr. Christopher Brown, Ph.D., D.Sc., CC, AOE, FRS is a Full Professor and Academic Tenure of Chemistry at California South University (CSU), Irvine, California, USA. He is an American analytical and organic chemist, who pioneered a number of discoveries in the field of chemistry, his first and most famous being the synthesis of sucrose. His contributions include the discovery of the anomeric effect and the development of general methodologies for the synthesis of saccharides still employed in the area of Nucleic Acids Chemistry. He was a fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and also the Royal Society of Chemistry (England), and a recipient of the prestigious Albert Einstein World Award of Science and Wolf Prize in Chemistry. Furthermore, he is currently Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at California South University (CSU), Irvine, California, USA.

Dr Zi (Sophia) Gu is a Lecturer and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Early Career Fellow in the School of Chemical Engineering at University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney. She obtained PhD from Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology at The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia, in 2011, and she was awarded a NHMRC EC Fellowship in 2013 when she started her independent research at UQ prior to joining UNSW in 2016. Sophia has been working in multidisciplinary research areas that combine the knowledge and skills across nanotechnology and biomedicine, and has developed a targeted anti-restenotic therapy and built inorganic nanoparticle platforms for diagnosing and treating diseases. She published in high-impact journals including Advanced Materials, Biomaterials, Chemistry of Materials, Materials Horizons, and Journal of Controlled Release etc. Her recent awards include The Monash Engineering Women’s Leadership Award and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Award. Gautam Sethi has completed his Postdoctoral training at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and joined Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2008 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2015. The focus of his research over the past few years has been to elucidate the mechanism(s) of activation of oncogenic transcription factors such as NF-kB/STAT3 by carcinogens and inflammatory agents and the identification of novel inhibitors of these proteins for prevention of and therapy for cancer. He has more than 150 scientific publications in high impact factor peer reviewed journals and has several international awards to his credit. He currently serves as an Academic Editor for PLOSONE, Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports and ad-hoc Reviewer for several other international journals.

Dale W Laird and his research team has been examining the role of connexin gap junction proteins in health and disease for over 25 years. Since being recruited from McGill University in 1997, Dr. Laird’s research program has flourished as connexin gene mutations were discovered and shown to cause many human diseases. This coincided with the generation of numerous genetically-modified mice where connexin genes were ablated or mutated to mimic human diseases. Dr. Laird’s laboratory routinely employs these mutant mice together with organotypic cultures and patient cells to investigate the link between connexin gene mutations and a diverse array of diseases and syndromes ranging from skeletal development anomalies to skin disease.
